Creator of the FeinLine Musical Theatre Academy
Meet Brian J. Feinstein
When my first Off-Broadway show opened, I was fortunate to have the legendary Eartha Kitt in the lead role. In between the matinee and evening performances, we would always chat in her dressing room while she ate steamed broccoli and brown rice. One Saturday, she turned to me and ever so nonchalantly said, “Did I ever tell you about the time I had breakfast with Albert Einstein?” I was speechless. “Albert Einstein!” I said. “How did that happen?!” Eartha paused, looked me in the eye and said, “I asked him.” And in that moment, I was handed one of my most important life lessons: be fearless and go for it. To this day, whenever I feel that echo of hesitation run through my body, I stop and think of my afternoon with Eartha.
Some kids grow up never knowing what they want to do. That kid wasn’t me. I always knew. But KNOWING doesn’t always make the journey easier. To choose a life in the arts is a choice born from necessity - not desire. It’s a dedication like no other, and I’ve been blessed in my career to have such wonderful education, support, mentors and family. Without them, I would not be where I am today. And that’s why I started the FeinLine Musical Theatre Academy.
With over 25 years experience composing and writing musicals, and educating all ages in the art of theatre making, songwriting, dramaturgy and producing, Brian Feinstein, (affectionately known as “FeinLine” to his friends) created the FMTA to encourage the musical and theatrical dreamer in all of us. Whether as a career, or just for fun, the FMTA is truly for any age, and any dream.
